Hello! My name is Amanda Lightner. I started teaching at EJHS in 2009 but started my teaching career in 2003. I come from a family of educators and have always been inspired by curiosity and creativity. I love sharing my excitement for learning-- especially reading and writing-- with students at EJ. It is a privilege to be a part of student's growth and to learn from them as well.
I graduated from Lebanon Valley College in 2002 with a bachelor's degree in English/ Secondary Education. I received my master's degree in creative nonfiction writing from Southern New Hampshire University in 2015. I have a post-baccalaureate certification in special education and am a Fellow of the National Writing Project at West Chester University.
I am originally from Loysville, PA and currently reside on my family's farm in Perry County. Outside of the classroom I have a wide range of interests, which include baseball (Go Phillies!), horseback riding, journaling, baking and bicycling. I am blessed to be able to share these activities with my husband and three wonderful children.
